Installed the kit in about 2 hours. The only issue with the Tusk kit was converting the stock headlight to a High/Low Beam and the kit did not have the solution for the 2013 WR450F due to the stock headlight socket on the bike . I ended up having to buy a headlight socket from Auto Zone Part # 84790. This is the kind that has the three female spade terminals. They come in a package of two and cost about $11). I then ran the power lead that went to the bulb to the black wire on the Tusk switch. From there you wire the white wire from the Tusk switch to the low beam wire on the socket, and the dark blue wire from the switch to the high beam wire on the socket. Then wire the ground lead to the ground on the socket. The socket I used has a rubber boot that creates a nice seal on the back of the headlight.
I had my concerns given the price (up to 1/2 of kits from Baja, etc), but the reviews were very positive overall. I agree.
Well-built and well-though-out wiring harness makes it very straight-forward. Based on color-coding and the sex and type of connection it was pretty intuitive. I might have spent more time than other owners because I first had to figure out some of the previous owner's wiring (hand warmer wiring & switches, etc also behind the headlight shield). I also preferred the stock mud flap so had to make a bracket to hold the new LED tail light.
Switches don't appear very heavy-duty, but protected behind bark busters they should be fine. LEDs are nice & bright. I really like the flush mounted rear signals. They look sharp and seem pretty safe compared to sticking out on a rubber stub. I opted for the front stubs rather than the ones mounted on the hand-guards, those seemed vulnerable to drops, branches, etc. Overall, I recommend this kit!
This kit provided me with all the items to be street legal!
Installed on a 250 2 stroke and it works pretty good but the fender piece is thin and brittle and was cracked by rocks.
I bought the kit based on price and simplicity. The instructions we not quite clear as it did not mention it was a strand alone system. Once I figured that out, the install was straight forward.
I would like to see more attention put into the control area as the switched provided can get the bars crowded real quick.
The led lights are nice and fit well onto my rear fender and front number plate. The rear fender took a little imagination to decide on fit and where to mount it. I trimmed out the center with a dremel and got a nice clean fit. Used rivets to mount it to fender on bike in multiple points and fells very solid as it sits today.
