This skid plate system is too awesome. Unbelievably easy to install.

Perfect addition to the Pioneer 1000.. Won't be worrying about the underside of my 1000 any more, and while the install is not a true plug, and play, it is not that hard to install.

Fit great, instructions for my KRX did not specify the need to retain my metal skid plates under the driver and passenger seat areas so I removed them and found out needed them so I had to remove tusk skid plate and reinstall them. Instructions just said remove the stock skid plates. The 10 bolts on the folding flaps are 1/4-20x1/2 and barely threaded into the metal so I bought some 1/4-20x3/4 replacements and they worked much better. Nice setup and with 1/4 inch longer bolts on the front flaps would have been perfect.

One of the biggest problem areas of the HONDA Pioneer 1000 is the lack of adequate under-frame protection. The stock "protector" is not sufficient, especially on rough trails and rock climbing. I have shoved rocks through the stock item and I could see that there could easily be major damage to the machine if the rocks pierced in the "wrong" location. These machines are fairly low to the ground, so they need more than a thin sheet of PVC. I do not like the aluminum plates as they tend to be noisy and do not slide well over rocks. Installation was straight forward and the hardware supplied was more than adequate. One thing that i did not like was the "self tapping" screws that were used along the outside on the plate. I used Rivet Nuts that expanded into holes drilled as needed in place of the self tapping screws. Self tappers or self threading screws do not have much to bite into on the outer tubes of the frame. The rivet nuts take more time, but the results are better.

Installed easy enough, will protect the undercarriage I would recommend this skid plate, weight is 56lbs so not to heavy compared to competitors. Does work with kawi rock slider set (99994-1328) with modifications to tusk skid plate.
