Elegance, King’s Roar: My Road King Special’s Grand Upgrade

After upgrading my 2020 Harley-Davidson Road King Special with the ZARD Slip-Ons "4.5 Inches" Exhaust, I can confidently say this is a royal treatment. Crafted in Italy from premium AISI 304 stainless steel, each pipe exudes quality—complete with precision billet anodized aluminum end caps and the stylish ZARD nameplate. It’s a clear blend of badass performance and tasteful design.
Fit & Finish:
These slip-ons are tailor-made for the Road King Special (2017–2024), and the fitment was seamless—bolt-on simplicity at its best. Nothing forced, nothing altered—I slapped them on and they clicked into place like they were born to be there
Performance Variants:
I went with the Racing version—9.5 kg and a solid +2.3 hp gain. There's also the street-legal Euro-5 homologated version at 9.8 kg with a +1.2 hp boost, if that’s more your style.
Sound & Feel:
At idle, it rumbles with an authoritative purr—like the King has woken and is ready to rule the road. Open the throttle and the pipes unleash a deep, guttural growl: aggressive without being harsh, refined yet undeniably powerful.

Majesty and Muscle—My Road King Special Found Its Roar

When I decided to upgrade my 2018 Harley-Davidson Road King Special, I went in search of something that paired elegant craftsmanship with genuine performance. Enter the ZARD Slip-Ons "4.5 Inches" Exhaust—and let me tell you, it exceeded every single expectation.

Craft & Aesthetics:
These slip-ons are a statement of quality—handcrafted in Italy using high-grade AISI 304 stainless steel for enduring resilience. Finished with billet anodized aluminum end caps and the iconic ZARD nameplate, they elevate the bike’s look to pure art. Finish options include Black Chrome, Chrome, and Black Cerakote
Fitment & Installation:
The ZARD slip-ons are custom-designed for the Road King Special (model years 2017–2024). Fitting them was virtually effortless—everything aligned perfectly, and with only standard tools and basic mechanical know-how, I had them installed in under an hour.
Performance—Racing vs. Homologated Versions:
I opted for the Racing version, which shaved off a bit of weight (9.5 kg) and delivered a noticeable +2.3 hp boost. There’s also the Euro-5 homologated option, slightly heavier at 9.8 kg with a respectable +1.2 hp gain
Sound & Ride Experience:
At idle, the exhaust emits a deep, rumbling purr that instantly commands attention. Once underway, opening the throttle unleashes a rich, throaty growl that’s assertive without being abrasive—bold, refined, and unforgettably Harley. Throttle response snapped to life, with mid-range power delivery feeling more alert and alive than ever.

Flair, King-Sized Roar — My Road King Special Redefined

When I upgraded my 2019 Harley-Davidson Road King Special with the ZARD Slip-Ons "4.5 Inches" Exhaust, I expected a good enhancement—but what I got was regal. These beauties are entirely handcrafted in Italy using premium AISI 304 stainless steel, and they're widely praised as a “premium Road King Special Exhaust” that blends form with function in every brushed curve
Visual & Build Quality:
The craftsmanship is unmistakable. These aren't just aftermarket add-ons—they’re artistry. The metalwork feels monumental yet refined, giving the rear end of my bike a custom flourish that stands out without screaming for attention.

Sound & Character:
From idle to open throttle, the sound profile has transformed. At rest, there’s a deep, authoritative rumble that commands respect. Twist the throttle, and you're greeted with a rich, guttural growl that’s aggressive—yet remains smooth and dignified. It’s the perfect audio identity for a Road King.

Fitment & Installation:
ZARD designed these specifically for the Road King Special spanning 2017 through 2024—installing them was seamless and hassle-free No clamps forced; no guesswork. Just slide on, bolt down, and unleash.

Performance & Feel:
While the site doesn’t boldly advertise horsepower gains, the bike feels more responsive. Acceleration off the line is sharper, and the throttle response feels crisper. The bike now matches its name—bold, confident, and unmistakably powerful.
