The Tusk Excursion Rackless Luggage is made of heavy-duty nylon materials, and is ready to withstand the smaller adventures you want to embark on. The Excursion is the little brother to the Highland rack-less system. This bag system mounts easily to most adventure motorcycles, but is ideal for dual sports and dirt bikes. Its greatest feature is that it does not require any side pannier racks. The 4 nylon webbing straps allow for easy removal of the entire bag from the motorcycle. These are the perfect setup for your adventuring style, but its specialty is off-road specific riding.

  • Quality rack-less pannier bags built for off-road adventure riding.
  • Durable construction and materials that feature Duraflex hardware, 2520D Nylon and TPU.
  • Roll top design on the side bags.
  • Reflective Tusk logos to increase visibility at night.
  • Removable Tusk Defender waterproof inner bag liners.
  • Hole cut out for KTM 690’s and Husqvarna 701’s to allow for easy fueling of the rear tank.
  • Tusk Heat Shield and clamp included.
  • This Tusk Luggage System includes all of the following: (1) set of Tusk Excursion Rackless Bags, and (1) Tusk Exhaust Heat Shield and clamp.
  • Dimensions bags: Side Bags
-Length: 9" Width: 7" Height: 14" but can be taller.
-15 Liters each side (Approximately 30 Liters total).

Perfect for lightweight Dual sports

Great bag set. Fits very well on my WR250R.Ordered the Tusk Excursion Rackless Luggage System w/ Small Dry Duffel & Bottle Holders. One of the better price points on the market for a rackless system. It was very easy to take off and put back on. May take a little extra time for first time install but it hold everything in place with no noise or movement.

Pros: Good Build Quality
Feels very sturdy
Holds a good amount of stuff
Has a very clean look and install

Cons: Hardware can be a bit annoying to install
Water RESISTANT, NOT waterproof. comes with dry bags to help out with keeping stuff dry
Velcro tie down to hold extra strap length could be a little bigger/sturdier (They are easily replicable may I add)
no extra hardware included

I've yet to do some distance with them to see how they hold up. I'm gonna do an in depth review once I've broken in the bags sufficiently and they got some miles under their belt. I'm happy with the product and look forward to using it!

Fits the KLX250s really well.

I don't usually leave reviews, but thought this might be helpful to someone.
I took a chance and purchased this set up for my 2009 KLX250s with the small dry duffel and the small bottle bags. After trying other bags that just didn't work, this system fits the KLX really well. I have an aftermarket rack and wider seat and the bags ride nicely. I wanted to try and use this set up for longer day trips and weekender type light adventure rides. I can get my sleeping bag, pad and tent stuffed into the 22L dry bag, but its a snug fit (backpacking type gear). The side bags seem like they should hold the rest of my necessary gear for minimalist camping. (bigger bags = too much stuff) The bottle bags will hold an MSR fuel bottle or small water bottle, but not Nalgene type bottles, they also work well as tool bags. Loaded up the bags road well on the road. the straps stayed tight and if you balance them well you wont even know they are there. I felt the top bag had some movement to it so I used an additional rock strap front to back around the rack and that seemed to help a lot. Off road (without the top bag) the bags road well and stayed put and did not bounce around. If I had the top bag on depending on the load, I think the rock strap would be mandatory. They did not encroach on the seat or interfere when standing on the pegs. On the KLX the bags stick out a bit because of the side panel design but not too bad. They seem well made and took a few bush wacks and a light drop with no issues. Overall I feel they are a good value and am happy with my purchase. Including the heat shield and dry bag inserts is a nice touch. Only cons, the screw together set up is a little wonky, the screw holes are melted (?) into place and the extra melted material needs to be trimmed away to get it to fit together properly. They also stick up a bit from the base and have marked the bottom of the dry bag where it rides, not wearing a hole or anything yet, but something I'm going to watch. Also the Molle sticks are a little too short to catch all the loops still a good system overall.

Great Product

Four of us just finished a four day three night ride in Death Valley using these bags. We had a 2018 KTM 500 EXC, a 2017 Husqvarna FE 501, a 2012 KTM 500 EXC and a 1996 Suzuki DR650 in the group. We all purchased these bags for the trip. We went with the Small top bag option and the bottle holders. The bags carried all of our camping gear (backpacking sized items) and extra clothes and we never lost anything out of the bags. The bags never came loose either. We brought extra straps since we had not tested the bags prior to the trip and were unsure of how secure they would be, but all of the extra straps were unnecessary.

Most of the riding we did was on dirt roads. A couple of us had tip overs and we had one pretty big crash (rider on the DR650) in a silt bed. I’d estimate he got it down to about 25 miles per hour before hitting the ground. The bags held up great and didn’t show any signs of damage. There weren’t any river crossings and there was no rain to test the waterproofness of the system, but we did ride through a small stream of water running down Goler Canyon for a few miles and everything inside stayed dry.

At first I thought the bottle holders were a bit pricey for what they were, but they were definitely worth it and I would buy them again. We found that Smart Water 1.5 liter bottles are the absolute largest bottles you can stick in there. It took some effort to get them in and out the first few times, but after a while the bottles started to slide in and out fine. The bottle holders are definitely worth getting.

As convenient as the top bag is, if you are going to do any sort of downhill, need to get over the back of the bike for any reason, or plan to ride even slightly aggressively, it is completely in the way. It made some fairly basic descents and obstacles very sketchy because you can’t get far enough back over the bike so it feels like you are going over the bars. Just something to be aware of and not a criticism of the product, it is what it is. We didn’t think it would be a big deal until we got into these situations. The top bag is great if you are just going to cruise on the dirt roads like most people would with a big ADV bike. We rode some fairly gnarly terrain on our trip, and if I were to do this trip again I’d probably take a bit less stuff, leave the top bag at home, and carry a slightly larger backpack to compensate for the lost space. One of our guys strapped a pad to his handlebars and that worked great (see photos). It worked out so well I am looking for a dry bag shaped like his pad to attach to the handle bars to get some of the lost storage space. Just have to figure out a better way to deal with the front brake line. Tusk, if you decide to make one that would be much appreciated.

In the end, the plastics were a little scuffed from the bags, but it really wasn’t too bad. I’d probably have two sets of plastics (one for luggage one without) if you were really that concerned about it. The 2018 KTM rear fender flopped around just enough to send the license plate into the rear wheel while going down some of the rougher dirt roads at 45-55 miles per hour and the 2017 Husqvarna was getting some rub from the rear wheel for a while too. They both had stock taillights and license plate mounts. I’ve seen this happen to bikes that were unloaded too, so it may or may or may not have been the bags and extra weight. My 2012 KTM with an aftermarket license plate mount and taillight did not have this issue. The DR 650 had a small rack that this system mounted on top of nicely, and it never had any issues.

All in all, this is a great product at a great price point. Thank you Tusk and Rocky Mountain.

Great for a WR250F adventure/dualsport bike.

I run these on a Yamaha WR250F with the small top duffel bag. The sizing, styling, durability, fit, finish, and pricing is outstanding. I also run the bottle bags which are nice to have. I have thousands of miles of trails, single track with brush srubbing, wrecks. The bags are tough!
